Homeopathy is a 200 years old medical system, developed by German physician, Samuel Hahnemann. It is a system of natural medicine for treating acute and chronic diseases, by gently stimulating the body’s own healing ability.
Healing is triggered by potentized and highly diluted natural substances (homeopathic medicine). The selection of the medicine is highly individualized and designed to treat the whole person.
Homeopathy is based on the principle of “Law of Similars” and on the principle of “Like Cures Like”. This means a homeopathic medicine is chosen to match the pattern of symptoms that are characteristic to the person with the illness.
The best example to demonstrate the principle of like cures like is to look at the symptoms of hayfever, such as runny nose and teary eyes, which are similar to the symptoms of a person who is chopping onion. This person could be treated with a homeopathic medicine (Allium Cepa) prepared from red onion.
